How to plan your Wedding part two - spotlight on Sami Tipi

As it’s the most special day of your life, planning a wedding deserves all the time you can give it. But while the process may seem daunting at first, take comfort in the fact it’s all the little details coming together that truly bring your vision to reality.

In our how to plan a wedding journal series we’re shining a light on these ‘little things'. That means chatting with the incredible suppliers, creatives and small businesses that work so hard to make each wedding shine.

Your venue is the setting where memories are made. From the first dance to the last ones dancing as the sun comes up, the perfect venue is the backdrop to your new chapter together.

And while country houses and quaint hotels make lovely choices, there’s nothing like getting everyone together in a styled tipi for a dreamy boho wedding. To find out more about making outdoor weddings a breeze, we delved into conversation with one of our most trusted suppliers, Sami Tipi. We have worked with this amazing team for a number of years now and their professionalism and drive has always impressed me.

How can you make your outdoor wedding vision possible?

Jodie: Sami Tipi specialises in creating outdoor weddings couples can cherish forever. Creating an outdoor wedding is a little more involved than a traditional venue but the outcome is worth it. You can stand back as a couple and say - we created that.

Outdoor weddings are ideal for those that want a celebration that’s completely bespoke and reflective of your style as a couple.

“You get to choose everything from your wedding menu, to what drinks are served, to how you want your space to look.  Anything can be achieved and that’s the fun part. It really is simply about working with a team of incredible suppliers that understand the vision for your day.”

How can you help couples cut through the fuss of the wedding planning process?

While going for a traditional venue can often result in extra fuss and even more decisions to be made, an outdoor wedding means things can be a lot more relaxed. But just how easy is it to sort the logistics in time for the big day?

Trusting in our experience means that the team will deliver a quality Tipi or Sailcloth build at least two days before the wedding. This gives the couple plenty of time to do the nice creative stuff that comes with having an outdoor wedding. We understand everyone wants a unique day. No outdoor wedding is the same - there is no run of the mill. Just relaxed, fun and a day you and your guests will always remember.

Our team work hard to make each wedding feel deeply personal. We invest time in the planning journey. We have two planning meetings either face to face or via video call in the current climate. We do this around six months before the celebration date and again at six weeks. This is time to sit together and get a clear picture of the day, from guest numbers to supplier needs. From this, it allows us to create a Tipi or Sailcloth space that works for them - both for daytime and into the evening. We call this ‘The Sami Tipi Way.

How can couples create a styled space that represents them?

Details are especially important when bringing the wow-factor to an outdoor wedding. Styling is where you bring in your own personalities to the day. From the smaller details of table decor to the cake display, this should all reflect the two of you as a couple.”

“Where possible we always recommend working with a stylist like yourself, as you can help create the vision but also save you so much time and money. Believe it or not you don’t have to buy every prop item you have pinned on your Pinterest board!

To get styling inspiration for your wedding we always recommends coming along to a showcase. We host a number of showcase events throughout the year. This is our opportunity to work with Tara to showcase how the space could look for your big day. At these events we look ahead to upcoming trends for the next 1-2 years, so we highly recommend popping along.
