Becky & James - A relaxed, boho tipi Wedding

We met Becky & James at the Sami Tipi Spring Showcase last year. They were towards the end of their wedding planning journey and so didn’t need a full stying package from us, opting instead to hire some props from us to add to the collection of bits and pieces they already had. Becky had such a clear vision on how she wanted the styling to look, and you knew from talking to her it was going to look incredible. When the amazing images landed from Rosie May Kelly - they did not disappoint! We love nothing more than to see a happy couple on their special day.

The hire only option is perfect if you want to style your wedding yourself but want some extra touches to really finish off the overall look

We caught up with Becky and she filled us in on who she opted for as suppliers and what influenced her styling on the day.

What made you opt for a tipi wedding?

We decided to have an outdoor tipi style wedding as we didn’t want the fuss and formalities you get with lots of wedding venues and we were really keen to do a lot of the styling and set up ourselves. Having a tipi was great as we could personalise it to our style and have a relaxed and fun day.

describe the style of your day

The theme and styling of the day was laid back, boho, English countryside style. We didn’t want anything to feel too formal and overly styled, we had hay bales outside for guests to sit on and a giant jenga and coconut shy for people to play with.

Catkin Flowers provided us with amazing english flowers from her cutting garden which myself, my mum and bridesmaids arranged in vintage cut glass vases for the tables, the flowers kept the tables looking laid back and a bit wild which is what we were going for.

Did your job influence your style?

My job as a fashion print designer definitely helped with planning the wedding. I designed our invites, menus and table plan myself and just generally had a clear idea of how we wanted to style the day.

Tell us about your suppliers?

Our suppliers were all great and I am so happy we found them, mostly through the tipi company we used, Sami Tipi. The team at Sami Tipi were our first suppliers we found and they were amazing at helping us plan the day. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Thomas the caterer supplied all our food one the day. They were brilliant and provided us with our dream wedding menu. Mambo Mobile Bars provided the evening bar service and were great.

Jo from My Perfect Ceremony performed our service, she had made it really personal to us and it was lovely.

Rachel from Catkin was amazing, her style was exactly what we were looking for.

Rosie Kelly was our photographer, I am so happy I found her work on instagram and got in touch. I love her style of photography and our pictures were perfect and captured the day so well.

Josephine Way was our makeup artist, who was lovely and made everyone look great!

Hello Cake made our wedding cake for us, which was beautifully decorated and tasted amazing.

Finally we hired some props and decor bits from Tara at Tara Knott.

How did you find the hire service?

I met Tara at a Sami Tipi open day event and then visited her office to see her huge collection of props. It was great to be able to hire from her as there were some things we wanted for the day that we didn’t want to spend lots of money on buying ourselves such as the table runners. She has an amazing collection of little touches that really added to the styling of the day.

“Tara was so helpful and lovely on the run up to the day and very kindly dropped off and collected the props we had hired”.

As Wedding stylists we love the details and so to see how couples use our props and hire pieces to add the finishing touches to their day is wonderful. This wedding was simply stunning and what made it even more special was that they had family and friends helping to bring it all together. Becky’s dad even made the ceremony tipi for them - legend!
